I just got my car back from a shop they replaced wheel bearings and tie rods. The first day it shut off a couple of times at a red light but started right back up. Then the next day I was going around 45MPH and it's like my gas pedal wasn't working. My RPMs dropped then went up a little, back down, up, then it quit running. My lights work, the alternator has recently been replaced and the battery. When I try to start it clicks one time.

Hi,

If you are getting one click, start at the battery. Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight.

If they appear good, then try to jumpstart the engine to see if the starter engages

If it does, we need to check the alternator output. It may be allowing the voltage to get low enough to prevent the engine from running.

If it does start, safely disconnect the jumper cables. Using a voltmeter or multimeter, we need to check the voltage at the battery. With the engine running, it should be around 14v. With the engine off, it should be around 12v.

Here is a link that explains how to do it:

Let me know the results.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

If you are getting one click, either we have a faulty connection, a failed starter, a weak battery, or a locked engine.

Do me a favor. Follow the directions in this link to load test the battery. It requires no tools and is really simple.

Also, let me know if you have checked the battery terminals to make sure they are tight and clean. Also, let me know.

If possible, record what it's doing and upload it for me to hear. It may help me.

Take care,

Joe
