First I am going off of what my seventeen year old has told me. He was driving and heard a squealing sound then a pop, then he had no clutch.
So my question is where do I start looking? I have read it could be this and that. But as I am on a very limited income I cannot afford to go replacing every part until I find the right fix.
Can you help me out with that?

Yes, I can help. Can you tell me if the clutch pedal has tension or does it flop to the floor or is the clutch pedal operation normal but you cant get it into gear? Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can hear the noise? That would be great. You can upload it here with your response. That way I can tell whats going on.

This guide can help as well:

Please run down this guide and report back.
