1997 Chevy S-10 new fuel pump and filter

Replaced fuel pump and filter and the truck will not fire. Fuel pump energizes and have good spark. Gas or starting fluid will not start the truck and sounds like it wants to fire up but spits back and catches fire before it starts. Help?

Fuel pump energizes

The question here is it producing the correct fuel pressure? Check the fuel pressure and comeback with the readings.

I let the truck sit overnight and 24 hours later the truck started. The gas smell was awful. Only had about 5 gallons of gas in the truck when all the problems began with the fuel pump. The same gas was put back into the tank and bingo the smell is no doubt bad gas. Treated the tank with a cleaner and all is good in the neiborhood. I hope this helps someone else with there problem.
