Engine died

This afternoon I went out to start my 1996 Chevy 1500, V-8 5.7 engine and after letting it warm up for a few minutes (it is very cold weather) I shifted into drive and started to drive off then everything just died. No power; no electric--nothing. Went out later and have interior dome lights but nothing else. Turn key in ignition and it doesn't do anything.

If you only have a dim interior light and dim or no headlights, either the battery is a defect or there is a cable loose, defective or dirty connection as I see it. Check at the battery, to the ground, to the starter. There should be no green or corrosion, nothing loose.
