Dinging noise when car shut off and the door open 2006 Chevy Equinox

I just purchased a 2006 chev equinox awd, 24000 miles. When I shut off the engine and open the door, I get the ding, ding, ding noise as if the key is in the ignition, even though the key is in my hand. Help - this is driving me crazy, I can't wait to get out of the vehicle and close the door to stop the dinging. When I open the door to start the vehicle, it starts dinging again until I get in and close the door.

So there is a micro switch inside the ignition switch that senses the key inside the ignition switch which sounds like it is stuck, I would use WD40 inside the keyhole and then work the key in and out several times to see if you can unstick the switch. Please let us know. If not you will need to replace the switch here are the instructions to do so. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens. BTW I would get he tumbler formt he dealer so they can code it for you.
