Car Wont Turn Over

I was in an accident in January and damaged front driver's side headlights and parking lights area. Problem was caused by alternator failure. All damaged parts have been repaired and alternator replaced. Also have a new battery. I go to turn on the ignition and it sounds like it wants to turn over, but unless I keep my foot on the gas pedal it won't. I took it to a local mechanic and was told the spark plugs are fouled and the wiring probably needs replacing as well. I am desperate to get this car running again. Please help!
