One morning my car wouldn't start so I looked into getting a new starter and find out that my battery was bad. I replaced both and my car still won't start. She is my first car and I don't want to give up on her. Please help.

Hello, I'm Danny.

So say you replaced the battery and the starter. Is the engine spinning over and cranking but just not starting? I would suggest to first perform a fuel pressure test. If you don't have access to a fuel pressure tester most auto parts stores have a tool loaner program and can rent you one. Here is a tutorial showing what is involved:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

After performing this test get back to us with the results and we'll go from there. The proper fuel pressure for your vehicle should be 41- 47 psi with key on. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Every once in a while it will crank maybe once then nothing. I'm having trouble trying to find where to connect the fuel pressure tester. I found two ports and I can't get it connected to either.

Hello again.

I've attached pictures below of the fuel schrader valve where you can attach a fuel pressure tester for testing. It is location number 4 on the pictures. Let us know what you find after testing and we'll go from from there. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Thursday? I got it hooked up turned the key forward once checked the tester and gas was leaking from the meter where it connects to the hose. I took it off and checked the tightness and it's as tight as I can get it. It seems like my fuel pressure is fine.

Hello again.

What was the PSI reading? Just because gas comes out doesn't mean it's the correct pressure. Can you try to tighten everything up and try again? Let us know and we'll go from there. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.

It's barely reading not even 10 PSI. So is it my fuel pump?

Hello again.

Yes, that is way too low. It is your fuel pump. The pressure should be 41-47 PSI with the key on. Here is a tutorial showing what is involved in changing an in-tank fuel pump:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-an-electric-fuel-pump

I've attached picture steps below on how to remove and replace the fuel tank and fuel pump for your car. Keep us updated with your progress and let us know if you have any further questions on this issue. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
