AC not working

It's possible there's a water leak somewhere around the windshield. I would pull that blend door actuator out and see if it moves when you change the hot/cold knob first to make sure it's working, since you've come this far. It's only 3 bolts. If it's working okay and the door isn't stuck, you may have to get the A/C system checked. A bad expansion valve will limit the pressure on the A/C low side. It's a tricky part to diagnose. Pressure readings will have to be taken.

Hi laura deluca, thank you for the donation, It sounds like, you dont have enough refrigerant in the system, try this, when your at your home, open the hood, look at the compressor, and have someone start the vehicle, at the center of the compressors pulley, there is a piece called the clutch, you probably cant really see the difference between the pulley and the clutch untill its running and cycling on and off, while looking at the clutch notice if the center of the pulley(the clutch) is still or moving, or is it a stop and go, stop and go, type of movement. Also notice if the fan is running. And let me know

Thank you for replying. I'll check and get back to you. Should I check to see if I have enough coolant too?

I took the car to a mechanic to check the coolant and it was low. I had a radiator flush and now the heater blows hot air when idle. Thanks for the tip!

Try pulling hvac fuse inside car for 60 seconds with key to see if actuator resets if not it may be the actuator for that side.

I have a dodge stratus 2003 with weird a/c problems. Bought it a year ago. The a/c started not working so I had the a/c recharge and inspected a year ago and it still had problems right after. The dash control unit was acting up and the a/c would only work when I pushed in on the control unit in the dash. We had that replaced and a/c worked for several days and then didn't work. When I took it in for the 3rd time they couldn't get the a/c to malfunction. I got it back and same afternoon it didn't work. Then it started working when engine was cold but stopped working in hot afternoons. When the compressor came on it would work but the compressor would not come on at hottest time of day. Went through the winter and took it back in spring. Through winter compressor would not come on at all. Auto repair place thought they found the problem with a stuck pressure switch and replaced that and a/c worked good for a week. The next week on trip to L A a/c compressor would not come on again when we needed it going by bakersfield. When in LA did not work after two days compressor started working again, but on trip back up to northern calif. Started blowing hot again so we left the a/c on and every 15 or 20 minites the compressor would come om for a few seconds and then would go off. As the air temperature cooled, the a/c worked better and better. What seems to be the problem? I am going crazy with this problem.

This sounds like the automatic compressor controller is going out which is common here are diagrams to help you change the unit out. But to be sure here is a guide to help check the wiring and a guide to give you step by step instructions.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please run this test and get back to us.

The ac has stopped blowing cold when on max a/c. The compressor seems to cycle fast, and the condenser has frozen up a time or two. What should I do?

Hi:
If the compressor is cycling fast, chances are you are low on freon. I would have that checked.

Still has freon.
At the auto parts store, they tried to sell me a cabin air filter. Could that have something to do with it? Is there such a thing?

Air Conditioning problem
2004 Dodge Stratus 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Ac is out. Burnt up belt on the a/c compressor with clutch. The clutch is attached to the compressor. It was bright red, hot, and broke the belt. Bpought new belt and a/c compressor with clutch. Now on the new ac compressor with clutch, the clutch is constantly on, running and is smoking. Trying to ad freeon, it is trying (and did) die. Checked the fuses, not that. The clutch is getting hot still. What is causing this?
