Brake lights went out

I have an 03 Dodge Durango 5.9 and my brake lights went out, I have tail lights but no brake lights. I checked all the fuses and there's no fuse for the brake lights. I replaced the brake light switch on the brake pedal and still nothing. Is there any other brake light switch anywhere? Or how can I fix it?

Lets start by checking the brake light fuse which is #5 20 amp in the under hood fuse panel. Here is a guide to help you with the fuse location in the diagrams below.

This is common when the combination hazard/turn signal flasher goes out here is the location. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

I have replaced the bulbs, fuses, brake switch, the whole turn signal switch that comes out of the column and I still have no brake lights or turn signals. Flasher lights work, head lights work, running lights work, all other lights work.

The problem with the brake lights was a wire from the alarm came loose and hit the brake switch in the right place to short it out. We'll know today if we've fixed the turn signal problem. My husband thinks it's the flasher unit as he only hears one click when the turn signal is flipped on. We have one ordered and will be installed today. Will update later. Thank you for your help!

Did you use a voltage tester on circuits you checked? Does the highmount brake lite work? If none of brake lites work, check voltage at the brake switch.

In the diagram, the top wire is voltage to the brake switch, hot all the time. The bottom wire goes hot when the brake switch is activated.

Dodge Durange 2000, 160,000 miles. I love my Durango and it has been a great vehicle however it is giving me a headache. I step on the brake and only the passenger and center brake light lights, the drivers side does not. The bulbs are fine as they do light up with the door alarm and headlights. I replaced the fuse under the hood just in case but that has not solved the problem. Any suggestions?

Check for other possible fuses under the dash on the drivers side. Also check for any loose connections, bad grounds, broken or pinched wires, corroded wires. Sometimes the socket, which the bulb plugs in, can be bad. Get a test light connect it to a good ground and check to see where you're loosing power. Good luck :)

Electrical problem
2000 Dodge Durango V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi,
My driver's side brake light is out, others are working. I replaced the bulb, then replaced the fuse in the car and in the distribution center although they appeared fine. Still no luck. I then checked the switch by the brake pedal for a loose wire or anything. After I did that when I use the left directional signal it blinks very fast. Help

Unlike the older thermal flashers, you have an electronic flasher that flashes real fast when a bulb isn't working. Check if the tail lights are all working. If the same bulb is out, suspect a corroded ground wire. If the tail light works, another common problem is a corroded trailer wiring splice, particularly if Scotch-Lok connectors were used. They are not suitable for high moisture locations.
