Engine Performance problem
2003 Chevy Suburban V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 128500 miles

When my SUV gets under 1/4 of a tank of gas it will not start. After I put more gas into it, it will start. I think it is the fuel pump. If it is how much would it cost to repair it. Please help. Thanks Eric Collier

Hello, has the vehicle ever stalled with this problem? Are you sure the tank isn't empty? There are bulletins about faulty gage readings, the gage shows around 1/4 tank and the tank is actually empty. There might be something going on with the sending unit for the gage?

Thanks for helping. Months ago. My SUV would not crank when the SUV was just above empty. Now it won't crank at 1/4 of a tank. It has not stalled. Thanks Eric Collier

Hello, cranking is starter action. When the problem occurs, if it cranks good, but, won't start, check fuel pressure.

When it doesn't start, you need to check to see if the engine is getting spark and fuel. To me, it sounds like it takes a few seconds for the fuel pressure needs a few seconds to build. There could be a leak in the system requiring the fuel pump to need a few extra seconds to build pressure.
