2001 GMC Sonoma fuel pump erratic

Power goes thru relay, to the oil pressure switch on the way to the sending unit. Doesn't run on demand. When it's running, fuel pressure is ok, but this intermittent problem makes it hard to diagnose. Fuel pump is not coming on. Without taking fuel tank out (!). How can I check power to the pump?/Thanks

Try replacing the relay with a like relay then check thegray wire leading to pump to seeif it is on initially. It normally only goes fro 2 seconds prior to start.
