Engine Mechanical problem
2003 GMC Sonoma 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 30k miles

My son's 2003 gmc sonoma p/u truck died last weekend. We had it towed to local auto repair fac who diagnosed it was a bad fuel pump and wanted $1000 to replace it. We decided we could do it ourselves for a lot cheaper so we paid the diag fee to the shop and had the truck towed to my sons house. Today (sat) we pulled the bed and replcd the fuel pump with a new one but truck still refuses to fire. Just wonder where to go from here? TIA, P-Head

If you can hear the fuel pump come on-check the fuel pressure if not you might be dealing with power issue to the pump such as a fuse and fuel pump relay. Fuel pressure is okay and injection pulses-Start checking for spark.

Thanks Ras. Seems like new pump is NOT getting power to it. Do you know where the fuel pump relay is located? The fuse for the fuel pump (under hood in fuse box) appears to be good. TIA, P-head
