After changing the water pump you can hear the coolant going through the heater core. It seems worse when it is cold outside. It seems as though there is air in the cooling system. Is there a way to bleed the air out. I've tried leaving the coolant cap off for a while, but it didn't help.

Try jacking up front of car run cap off add coolant as needed to get the air out there is no coolant system bleed. Here is a guide to help you step by step to change the water pump with diagrams below to show you on your car.

We replaced the water pump because the car was howling. We were told it could be the a/c compressor. I wanted to know if there, s more than one model of intrigue that did'nt offer a/c. We want to bypass the a/c unit with a different serpentine belt are those availible for my 2000 intrigue GL
Thank You Melodie

I think this has the 4.0L in it so there is only one belt routing. It could be the a/c clutch maiing noise or the bearing for that or the clutch has too much clearance in it.

Okay ive replaced my water pump and themostat and the car still over heats. The heat will not turn on only blows cold air. It is december and I live in Central NY so thats not going to work very well. I have no clue as to why this will not pump hot air or stop over heating. Ive poured over 3 gallons of dexcool into the overflow and the radiator. The car is a 1998 olds intrigue with 151,000 miles.

Hi there, did you place any bleed valve on the thermostats upper most? You may have an air lock in the cooling system, I would take off a heater hose and back ill the heater core with water, with the engine running pull the heater hose back until it starts to leak, you should get a solid stream of water it may bubble out some air, with this done, re tighten the hose, make sure the heater is on and feel the hoses are warming up, also the lower radiator hose as when this is warm, the thermostat has opened up, start here.

Check the radiator if its clogged, if okay bleed the cooling system-also check the air blend door/actuator-if it continues to overheat get it block and pressure tested-

I recently installed new water pump. Now I noticed some anti freeze leakage near muffler. Car not overheating but check engine light staying on. I thought maybe there was a little smoke from muffler but it is cold here so could just be that.

I assume you mean the muffler in the exhaust. Most likely a blown head gasket from overheating

Hello! I am not sure, but I think my water pump needs replacement. I am leaking some coolant. When the engine is running, there is a fine mist of coolant discharging from the general area near the water pump. Someone told me that maybe it was coming out of the pump's "pee-hole", and that it probably indicated the pump was failing and needed replacement. Could that be accurate, or should I look for something else? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Please help! THANX!

That could be true yes and it's called a "weep" hole not "pee" hole ;) they will weep coolant out of that hole when they begin to fail.

Hi, there! Thanks for the clarification. Lol. Would the coolant just drip-out, or be under any pressure? Thanks again!

The coolant will blow out while in operation, may just drip out when engine is first turned off until all coolant in the pump leaks out. The rest will remain in the engine block and radiator
