I have a1992 ford explorer with 70,000 miles 4.0 litre v6 and the four wheel drive does not work. The lights on the dash do not come on when u push the button. Thay do light up for a split second when u start it. And u can hear a little clicking sound at the transfer when u push the 4 wheel drive button. It does have locking hubs also and I made sure they r locked in and I realy need my four wheel drive to work. Thanks for your time on this.

Start by testing the switch to be sure it is working properly. Get back to us after that

A meter would be nice or a test light. See if it has power on one side, if it does, does th epower connect through when the button is pushed? No power use continuity test on meter and see if it gets through

My 4x4 and low range is not working and I am not sure how to make it work . My truck has the two push buttons on the dash, the lights do not come on when the buttons are pushed but when you push the 4x4 button there is a clicking sound from the back cargo area. Any advice on how to get this working would be great as the weather here is snowing like mad and it is so scary driving the truck without the 4x4
thanks everyone 8)

Thre is a 4 wheel drive motor on the T case it is about as big as a pop can take the motor out and clean the entire inside of it with contact cleaner and lube the bearings with a dry graphite lube and some thin oil you will have to cut wires to get it off but I think there are only three of them Good Luck let me know how it turns out

Honestly, I can't make that decision for you. But, I will be honest, you will most likely have a few thousand into it before fixing everything.

2 button control 4X4 and 4 low and when I engage it the transfer case clicks but doesnt engage it stays in 2 wheel drive. Also sometimes the engine turnes over and sometimes the starter and solenoid just clicks one time. Low income and I live in a snowy area so any cheap fix advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

See if your auto locking hubs are working. Also find out if the front driveshaft is working, that will narrow it down. The starter, does this truck have a fender mounted solenoid? Sounds like the solenoid is the problem, but first make sure all connections are clean and tight
