So my truck will crank and is getting power but for some reason it isn’t receiving fire. I recently changed the spark plugs and wires and the sensors. My last thought was that it may be the inertia switch causing it not to receive fuel but still no luck. When I try to start it the oil gauge will flick up and stay but drops down when I stop. Any ideas on what is causing this and what I need to do to fix it?

Good afternoon,

You need spark, fuel and compression to run.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-cranks-but-wont-start

Can you hear the fuel pump run with the key on?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

Does the tach move up a little when cranking?

What sensors?

I can hear the fuel pump and it’s getting spark. The sensors that I replaced are the crank and cam sensors and the map sensor the previous owner put new O2 sensors in before I bought it and I did check them to see if they were good.

Okay, what about compression? If you have spark and fuel, then need to check compression and then see if the fuel injectors are being commanded on.

What was the fuel pressure?

The fuel pressure was at 35 and it was getting compression so I’m confused on why it’s not firing.

Got it.

The pressure is too low. It needs to be much higher.

Specs below.

Do you have a noid light to see if the PCM is commanding the injectors to fire?

Have you tried to spray some starter fluid in the air filter and see if it starts and stalls?

Roy

Fuel Presure
Key on, engine off. 414-448 kPa (60-65 psi)
Engine running. 414-448 kPa (60-65 psi)

Got it.

Are you sure you have spark to the plugs? How did you verify it?

I used a spark tester on each of the plugs.

Okay, that's a long time ago. You need to check it again with this issue.
