I feel a grinding when I brake sometimes not often. I have taken it to Toyota and they never had it happen while they drove it. Only thing they found was the computer wasn't communicating properly. Could that be a reason why these lights come on?

Good afternoon,

There is a fault in the ABS system. That fault has set a code and I need the code that is stored. The most likely failure are the wheel speed sensor but needs to be confirmed.

The grinding is the ABS applying when you brake.

Did the dealer tell you why they could not communicate? They should have the equipment to do this.

A parts store can read the codes for you for free. See if they can read the system and retrieve the codes for you.

I was told the tire pressure sensors were working but the computer wasn't communicating. That's all I was told.

You need to have someone read the codes. That is the only way we can help. We need the codes.

Take it to a parts store and see if they can give you the codes. That is a free service.

This is for the rear ABS sensors. It indicates the right side but it could be the left as well.

I would replace both. You could check each one individually with a ohm meter. You disconnect the sensor and measure the resistance of the sensor. It should be 800-1600 ohms.

Hint:

Use the same procedure for the lh side and rh side.
