Engine shut off while driving

Yesterday my car suddenly shut off while driving and its brakes and steering got jam. When car stopped, the check engine light comes on. What is the problem?

Hello, I'm Danny.

Having the check engine light come on means that a diagnostic code/fault is now stored in your cars computer.Accessing these code(s) will help us determine the problem you have described.If you don't have access to a code reader/scanner most local auto parts stores have a tool loaner program and can rent you one.Here is a tutorial showing what is involved on checking for diagnostic codes:
