Hi,

This could be a few things. For example, a weak fuel pump, vacuum leak, plugged catalytic converter and so on.

Has the check engine light stayed on when the engine is running? If it does, that is where to start. You need to have the computer scanned for diagnostic trouble codes. Here is a quick video showing how it's done:

I realize most people don't own one, but often times a parts store will lend/rent one to you.

Here is a link that explains how to identify a stalling at idle issue. See if anything helps. Also, let me know if the light is staying on or not.

Let me know.

It wasn’t on when It was running, it was driven about 14 minute drive. Once it got to the destination, tried to go somewhere with it. It wouldn’t start. So my husband replaced the throttle positioning sensor and the idle control valve. Then it would run but still if you pushed on the gas normal it would still stall. As long you pushed the gas lightly. Not enough where I can trust it, and drive it to somewhere or at least back to my house.
If you turn the ignition to the on position the volt and oil light along with the check engine are on.
I’m having a hard time trying to find a diagnostic tester that has the OBD 1. I’m still waiting on a few who may have it.

Hi,

Two things. First, if it has OBD1, you don't need a scan tool. 1995 was the cross over year from OBD1 to OBD2, so I assumed this had OBD2. All you need is a short jumper wire or even a paper clip to get codes. Follow this link:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/buick-cadillac-chevy-gmc-oldsmobile-pontiac-gm-1983-1995-obd1-code-definitions-and-retrieval-method

Next, what you described sounds like low fuel pressure. Has that been checked yet?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

If you haven't, check pressure. The attached pic shows the manufacturer's specs for pressure on this vehicle.

Let me know what you find.

It’s only getting 10% gas. Took the car in, still waiting to see what they can find out.

No problem. Let me know what they tell you. It could be a plugged fuel filter, but chances are it is the pump.

I will watch for your reply.

They did a back pressure test on it. They got it running the catalytic converter, they think it’s was plugged. It had a hole in it and they pushed it through.

Hi,

Glad to hear it's fixed. That was one of the thoughts I had in my first post to you. Regardless, I'm glad to hear it is running good for you again. Please feel free to come back anytime in the future if you have questions. Also, thanks for letting me know what was found.

Take care,
Joe
