I had a mechanic look at my car because of a leak in the coolant underneath reservoir on the driver side. He has told me that the problem is that a weep hole on the water pump is leaking. I will need to put the money together for the replacement of the water pump. However, he said that there might be a short-term solution. He suggested I use Blue Devil to stop the leak while I get the money together.

Will this work?

I would not try it. Most of those "miracle in a can" sealers use either a chemical that swells seals or metallic flakes that plug the leak. The problem is that a water pump seal is not a lip type seal that will swell up, and because the seal rotates as the pump turns any type of mechanical plug will not work.
Another side effect of many of those sealers is because they are designed to plug small holes, they can clog the radiator or the heater core. If that happens you will have a much higher repair bill.
