Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Volvo XC70 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles
I recently had the fuel pump replaced on my volvo due to a recall. The day after picking the car up from service, I was attempting to fill the tank with gas when the fuel nozzle at the gas station prematurely shut off every time I started to fuel, as though the tank was full. I put as much gas in as I could in 2 second intervals and assumed I had pulled up to a faulty pump. The next time I needed gas, I went to a different station and the same thing happened. I've since called Volvo and immediately, the service manager said that the fuel pump wouldn't be related to the fueling problems I'm having. I have an appt. In a couple of days to bring the car in to be looked at. Can anyone explain to me how I could pick the car up after the fuel pump replacement, having never had a fueling problems, only to begin having fueling problems the next day?
That one is a strange one? I would agree with the service manager on this one. To replace the fuel pump on your car the gas tank does not need to be removed so the filler neck is never touched? To replace the pump the rear right back rest and seat cusion is the only thing that needs to be removed to gain access to the pump and sender? The only thing I can think of is if the float on the fuel pump side (right side) or the left side level float got cought on the harness causing it to not float all the way up when full and you are trying to pump gas on a full tank? Please keep me posted as I would like to now what happens? At very minimum they should recheck there work at no cost to you? Mention the harness theory so that they see you no a little something so that they do not give you the run around? You could just have a defective pump as well but they should be able to figure it out. Anything else beyonde that then it is just coincidence that you are now having problems fueling? Sometimes it works out that way and now the dealer has an unsatisfied customer? But please keep me posted as I would also like to kow what it is they find.
