My truck will start but will not continue to run and the generator light is on. I have switched out the battery, alternator and water pump still it will not run without my foot on the gas pedal.

Is the battery light on when the engine is running or just when it stalls?

The need to hold your foot on the accelerator pedal is a result of disconnecting the battery to replace it. The engine computer has to relearn "minimum throttle" before it will know when it has to be in control of idle speed. To meet the conditions for the relearn to take place, drive at highway speed with the engine warmed up, then coast for at least seven seconds without touching the pedals.
