When locked in it drives fine until you put power into it you can hear it pop or slip is it the chain or both chain and sprocket and what years of dodges will fit it in case I need a used one

Without looking inside its hard to say what's wrong with it. Also there is two or 3 different ones. Would have to know the tag number on the transfer case and I could look up what years that tag number is interchangeable with.

It's a 231 d and my truck is a manual transmission and also will Durango or Dakota work I see they have same transfer case so if you can find out if any other makes or models and years will work that would be awesom

If it's the 1500 then only the dodge ram 1500 pick ups from 1998-2001 will work. The actual tag number Iam talking about is a lot longer number the the one you gave. That's the transfer case code number you gave me. The other number I wanted was called the motor tag id number. But no matter which tag number it is still going to be the pick up only 1998-2001
