I recently bought a tototo camry 1992 model manual. Whenever I put the gear in the reverse and release the clutch some squeezing sound is coming. There is no problem with the forward gears and also the clutch seems to be a little deep too, means I have to press the clutch a long way deep. Does the car need clutch replacement and around how much will it cost to repair the car?

Hi there,

The noise may just be the pedal box pivot bush, lube with a little spray on lube should fix that, as for the clutch it self check for fluid loss and repair as required with the engine on and in gear clutch depressed, drive should begin to engage with the pedal just off the floor, if drive is not felt untill the pedal is well up the clutch is probably worn. As these are a hydrostatic clutch (no adjustment) you may be due for a clutch O/haul.
