1985 Toyota MR2 wont stay running

I have an 85 mr2 it has the 1.6l in it also it has around 100,000 miles on it the car will start but it will not stay running it has no throttle response im looking for a direction I live in Central New york the furthest place from any information for this particular car

What I want you to do is operate the throttle from under the hood by hand. Do you have throttle reponse now? If you do then the cable may be bad goign to the pedal. If nothing still check the throttle position sensor.
