1994 Toyota 4Runner exhaust pipes

Yes I just recently bought my 94 toyota 4runner and ive noticed that is has a strong smell of exhaust sometimes inside the vehicle but exspecially when your standing outside of it. Do you know why that might be and can you tell me what to do to fix it?

Look for an exhaust leak, also could be running to rich caused by the following

1. Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line or defective fuel pressure regulator.
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.
