1996 Subaru Legacy Car died while driving

My car died while driving and the battery light and brake light came on in the dash. I pulled over and then started it with no problem after sitting for a few minutes. When it started back up it flashed the AT oil temp light and then it truned of too. I have never seen it flash that light before like that. What could cause that.
