1995 Subaru Legacy Engine stalls

Engine runs great almost all the time, but sometimes when driving it cuts out briefly, then starts running fine again. If it's just idling or moving very very slow it sometimes dies and I have to restart it. What are the most probabe causes for this problem?

Hi:
Many things can cause this. Does the check engine light come on? Also, have you replaced the fuel filter in the car?

Hi,
I purchased a new fuel filter and I plan on replacing the old filter today.

Also, It has been cutting out periodically for over a week, but only today has the engine light come on. I'm going to replace the filter right now. I'll let you kow if that fix's the problem.

If the light came on, there is a code in the computer. Have the computer scanned at a nationally recognized parts store. Most will do it for free. That will help identify the problem.
