Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com

It sounds like there could be a simple resolve to this. Most often, a weak battery connection will act this way. Take a look through this link and let me know if it helps.

As I said, let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Well, every thing is new, battery, cables, cleaned all grounds still the same. While checking power at fuel pump, I noticed the 12 volts went away after start, where the heck is the fuel pump relay on this heap? The truck is a 1986 cab and chassis. Thanks a lot Joe it is nice of you to help. Google YouTube show newer trucks but zip on 1986.

Hey Joe, I introduced 12 volts to the fuel pump, key in run position and away the turd went. It is kind of looking like I need an ignition switch. Would you agree? Thanks for the push.

Welcome back. Check all fuses and the relay. I have attached pictures of the relay and fuse locations. Chances are it is not the switch.

Here is a link that discusses how to test a relay:

Let me know.

Joe

Hi Joe, yes you are right. There is power everywhere. Turns out a circuit opening relay and the ground wire are the problem, they should have named it gremlin switch to cut fuel. Thanks Joe
