Hi, so here is the story:

A few days ago, in the morning I discovered the car was not turning on. The fuel pump seemed to be not working, there was no fuel on the lines and no sound for priming.

I pulled down the tank and replaced the fuel pump. After that everything was working again but I noticed a weird behavior. When I stopped and started accelerating the car hesitated for a second and then it was working normally. That was happening every time after a stop.

After a few days the car stopped in the middle of the road. It seemed there was a problem on the pump again, so I took it out and there was a little hose disconnected. I secured the hose, and I was able to turn it on.

But the car was working weirdly, and it took several tries to start. Since the problem started with the bad pump, I decided to get the new fuel pump checked and replaced just in case.

Now we know the pump is okay.

Then I checked the fuel injectors, and they are okay. They spray very well.

I cleaned the connectors for the sensors, and everything looked good.

But the car still needs a few tries to turn it on, and if I hit the gas hard it starts to stall, If I accelerate really slow, I am able to reach a good speed. But at any point if I hit the gas hard it stalls.

I was getting just one side on the cluster with the three key trick. It was related to low oil pressure so I did the oil change and the code disappeared but the problem persists.

I hope you can guide me a little bit.

What is the brand name of the pump you bought? Cheap fuel pumps do not supply the pressure needed for good starts and acceleration. But to be sure we can check the fuel pump pressure by following this guide and you can rent a pressure gauge from the auto part store for cheap.

Fuel System Pressure

400 kpa ± 34 kpa (58 psi ± 5 PSI)

Also, we should run the codes even if there is no check engine light on.

I have seen a MAP sensor that is a little off cause this issue as well. Make sure the air filter is clean as well.

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

The pump is an AutoZone, the test of the pump on the part store was around 108 PSI, the thing is that there is no Schrader valve on the second gen Pt Cruiser.

I will have a guy with a professional computer to check it out.

Let you know if there is anything interesting.

Thanks

Sounds good, cute doggy btw. You can install an adapter at the fuel rail to connect a gauge. It should come in the fuel pressure test kit.
