Starts in park and neutral, shuts off when put in drive. Runs fine in reverse and other gears.

We could have a couple issues, but we need to start with checking the fluid level and condition.

Basically, we need to see if the fluid is dark in color because that would point us in a good direction as to what could be happening. Here is a guide that will help with this:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-and-add-transmission-fluid

The next thing we need to do is check for codes using this guide:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

If we have no codes, then the likely cause of this is the converter is stuck on and as soon as you put it in gear it is stalling the vehicle because this is the same as releasing the clutch on a manual transmission and the engine just stalls.

Please run through this info and let us know what codes are and if you have any and we can go from there. Thanks
