When I push the gas pedal it barely accelerates. If I push it to the floor it does not accelerate at all, but if I feather the gas it slowly starts to gain speed.

Hello, I am Danny.

Quick question first. Is the Check Engine Light on? A code might be stored for in your cars computer. Having the Check Engine Light on means there is a fault code stored in your car's computer. Having the code checked is a great way to star diagnosis of your car's problem. If you do not have access to a code reader/scanner your local auto part stores (AutoZone, Pep Boys, O'Reilly's) will check for free. If you get back to us with the code number(s) we will be happy to help. I have attached a tutorial showing what is involved with checking codes. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Hello again.

It sounds like you might be having a problem with the Throttle Position Sensor. I have attached a picture of its location. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

That is brand new. I thought it was the TPS too so I replaced it. Maybe the idle control valve?

If I may jump in here. This is what happens when the PCM goes out. Or you could have a plugged exhaust system. Here is a guide to help confirm:

Please run down this guide and report back.

Cheers, Ken

Thank you for your advice, Ia m welcome to all advice. I do not think the converter is clogged, when I cover the exhaust tip with my hand, my hand vibrates from the force of the fumes. What about the idle control valve? What are your thoughts on that?

Hello again.

The idle air control valve would only give erratic Idle conditions like fluctuating or high Idle. I have to agree with Ken about having the catalytic converter tested since you mentioned the TPS being replaced/new. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

If I am not mistaken normal idle is 2,000 rpm correct? If so mine is 1,000 rpm not sure if this helps? Also, when pushing the pedal to the floor the rpm jumps to 3,000 rpm but the truck is not gaining speed.

Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can hear the problem, that would be great. You can upload it here with your response. Its sounds like the engine might be okay but the transmission is slipping?

Hello again.

Just an FYI your truck's idle speed with being in gear should be 650 RPM's.

Transmission is definitely not slipping. I was able to drive for one day before this happened and it shifted gears great. I know what a slipping transmission sounds like, definitely not what my truck is doing.

This sounds like you have low fuel pressure which will cause the issue. Here is a guide to help you see how to get the fuel pressure reading:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

The PSI should be 52 to 58.

Please run down this guide and report back.
