My vehicle has recently been acting up. I need a tune up due to a multiple misfire code that I know of, but it is recently been not shifting correctly. I am just wondering what it could be? It is fine in first and second but once it goes to third it acts like it is in neutral. My speedometer either stays at 0 or is erratically jumping and my rpm's shoot up real high. My blazer is an automatic v6. When I manually shift it from first to second it does great but still no speedometer. I can somewhat drive in third if I manually shift it but it still is iffy. When I also drive it feels like something is pulling me back. Like I am towing something, which I am not

It may be a vehicle speed sensor on back of transmission for speedometer but kind of sounds like the transmission is slipping in third gear and can be a clutch seal or clutch bad in transmission.

If I may jump in here, it sounds like it could be a third gear shift solenoid that is short circuited. Here is a guide to get top right right one in the transmission. Use a volt meter set on ohms to see if there is a short, compare it to the rest of the solenoids.

Check the fuses first.

You must remove the transmission pan.

Please run some tests and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

2000 Blazer would be the 4.3 with a 4L60E in it.
Loss of 3rd is 50/50 with it being the 3-4 solenoid or in high mileage units the 3-4 clutch. Does reverse work?

Hello and sorry it took so long to reply. So I got down there and started messing with the wires going into my transmission and it kinda fixed my problem. I don't get a lot of free time nor do I have an ohm meter so I can't test each wire. The car is running decent except for me needing a tune up. I'm now having issues with it wanting to take off in 2nd every now and then and my abs light is still present. My speedometer is working but I have to hit the gas to tell my speed or it just bounces (this is kind of constant). I'm able to drive without it neutraling out but I'd like to still get the problem resolved.

Hello,

I would do the tune up and then run the codes for the ABS. Also recheck the wiring at the transmission you might have missed something like a bad connection at the connector. Look for corrosion and rust.

Please run this test and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Cheers, Ken
