I figured the car didn't have a bad ignition module like it said it probably didn't.I asked you to test for spark when it didn't start did you ever do that?It doesn't sound like a crank sensor like I said before unless it doesn't have spark then it could be a crank sensor causing that part of it. Has anyone ever checked to see if the coolant temp sensor connector is corroded? From what you say with the car only going 20 mph then I would check for a plugged cat and also check and see what the fuel pressure is they can rent a fuel pressure gauge from auto zone. It might also help if you go see if the car has code's.I know no one want's to do that but it could help to figure out what's wrong with the car. If the light is on or off I always check for code's first. Let me know what you find.

99 percent of the time when the crank sensor fail's the car just shuts off and won't restart till it cool's down or untill you change it.I have never seen one cause the car to only let it go 20 mph and as far as changing the computer for this problem another bad guess. Now with your exhaust problem you said your muffler was unhooked what iam talking about is your catalytic convertor could be clogged causing a restricted exhaust. That would explain why your engine couldn't get rpms and it would only go like 20 mph. When the cat get's hot it expands that would also explain why it only happens when the engine is hot. You would have to go to a exhaust shop when it's acting up and have them check your back pressure to check for a bad cat. Also same thing when you check for fuel pressure check it when it act's up.
