I have replaced the thermostat and heater core on my 93 SL1 and it overheats after driving for about 2 miles with the defroster running on high.

Radiator fan came on and it comes on at half on the gauge, coolant level is to the full on the overflow container and no oil in it. The oil is clean of other fluids also. It made it into the red.

If your cooling fan come's on at half way on the gauge on your model year then your coolant temp sensor is bad.The fan should come on at about 3/4 on the gauge the sensor's are only like 10 make sure you get a brass tipped one.The plastic tipped one's crack also inspect the connector going to it if it's corroded replace the connector as well.Make sure the engine is cold you will loose some coolant. It's the bottom sensor with the two wires going to it.Also when your cooling fan is on that you have plenty of air pulling threw it or you have debris in the cooling fin's like sand bag's cat fur etc that will make your car over heat too.
