The transmission was running fine, it was going and gears fine and then one second we're kind of stuck in a ditch and he gases it little bit too hard in reverse and it suddenly just went out and now it's not wanting to shift out of gear. Other than the transmission being bad what other things could cause that to happen?

Hi,

Is it stuck in a specific gear? You mentioned it's not wanting to shift out of gear. Please explain.

And yes, there are other things. If the ditch was deep, a transmission cooling line may have been damaged causing a loss of fluid or restriction in flow. Usually, it won't just stop as you described.

Let me know exactly how the vehicle is responding at this point.

Take care,

joe

Any update on this? My truck is doing the same thing fell into a ditch.
Put it into reverse didn't want to reverse and all of sudden reverse grab and accidentally fully (+5000 RPMs) sent the truck out the reverse.

Hi,

If it wouldn't engage and then did, that sounds like either low fluid or low line pressure. Is your vehicle the same year, make, and model as the one above?

Also, I haven't heard back from the original person.

This is a 2014 dodge ram 2500 4x4 68rfe
Now it won't even go into reverse
I believe the transmission locked up :(

-In Park or Neutral rev up to 4k rpm
-in reverse or drive rev up to 2k rpm

Feel like the motor is pushing again the transmission

Hi,

We need to scan the can-bus. I have a favor to ask. Could you copy and paste your questions to a new post? We try to keep the posts specific to one topic and vehicle type, so they are more helpful to others. I hope you understand.

Here is the link to start a new post. Just copy and paste both of your questions to it. I will watch for it.

Again, I hope you understand.

Take care and thanks,

Joe
