Replaced rack after breaking at bracket mount weld. It broke again in same place. Replaced it and it broke again. My question is, if I accidentally replaced the rack with non Magnasteer rack and car requires Magnasteer could that cause the weld at right side mount bracket to break? Thanks

Hi,

Magnasteer is an early version of speed sensitive steering. The slower you go, the more assist you get.

To the best of my knowledge, you can switch them, but I know there is a difference in tie rods which would require you to purchase different ones. By any chance, have you changed from magna to non magna and used the original tie rods? If you have, that is what is likely causing the issue.

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, I did replace with non Magnasteer now all I need to know is if the car requires Magnasteer.I have to ck the VIN or what? Someone said there's a sticker in trunk or glove box that show all options on the car. Rpo code I believe. I know its was a non Mag and I didn't change tie rods. Thanks man!
