Right front tire shredded at speed, inner fender gone. DTC on as are ABS/Brake warning lights. Only ABS codes retrievable (no response from ECM to scanner) 86-1, 61-1, 54-1, 71-1. Error 1 on dash (F-CAN: malf in comm line between gauge module and multiplex cont unit (BCM)) when gauges tested. Gauges test good. Lost speedometer, tachometer, engine temperature, odometer, fuel gauge working but now not stabil (moves quickly gas/braking). No bi-way diagnostic tool available. Two open connectors from wires coming from harness near wiper reservoir. One single blue and other connector w 3 red, 3 white. All grounds in that location are connected to body. Brakes work fine and vehicle runs same as prior to transmission does shift slightly off. (VSS/both new front wheel sensors open) fuses good. No bi-way tool.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to figure these out as you clearly have wiring issues that need to be reconnected before we can get too far.

I am attaching the testing for these codes which will at least get us started down the path of what needs to be fixed.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-voltmeter

These include connector views which is what we are going to need in order to figure out what wiring issues we have.

The scan tool is not working most likely due to the 86 code which is the CAN message that you are getting. This is the communication network that needs to be intact so that you can communicated with the scan tool.

Here is a guide that talks more about this:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/can-scan-controller-area-network-easy

Please run through this testing and that will start to uncover the probable wiring issue that is causing this.

Hi KaseKenny and Thank you for response. Will start by checking resistance on 6 and 14 dlc pins for 60ohm. If 120 then know to focus on ECM/gauge or BCM for terminal resistor short. G

Perfect. I missed that you noted you were a certified mechanic. Clearly you know what you are looking for with termination resistance so please let us know what you find because when you fix this, it will be great info for all others that read this in the future.

Let us know what we can go from there.

Thanks again.
