2003 Pontiac Grand Prix Won't start every time

My 03 3.1 Grand Prix SE will start fine for days then out of the blue it will try to start & kind of belch under the hood then it won't try to start at all & will not without giving it gas. It will then start but about half the time won't run bt itself & will die w/o giving it the accelerator & running it at higher RPM's for a while. I've had the fuel filter & plugs changed & the fuel pump pressure is OK. But then it won't do it in front of a mechanic. No codes are shown.

It sounds to me like a timing issue, a crank or cam sensor, since you mentioned the "belch" and that the fuel pressure is good.

When this happens, look at tach and see if it is reading any RPM, if reading 0 rpm, it would be the crank or cam sensor.
