Computer problem
2002 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive

I just replaced my ignition switch in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am and now the car will not start. Someone said that I have to reset the computer. Is that something that a mechanic can do or would I have to take it to a dealership? If a mechanic can do it, how is it done?

You will need to let the system relearn. This can be done without a scan tool, but if it doesnt work it may need to go to a shop that has the software to force it to relearn
1- Turn key to RUN position, try to start and let key return to ON position
2-After approx. 10 minutes the security light should turn off
3-Turn ignition to OFF position and wait 5 secpnds
4-Repeat steps 1-4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles equaling 30 minutes
5- Start engine
