Engine Performance problem
1992 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Automatic 148000 miles

Ijust purchased a 1992 pontiac grand am from a private owner. Run good, but it has died on me twice and it is running ruff like it's not getting enough gas. When stopped and idling, it's like it "lunges" but not really, just runs really ruff and misses.

the person I brought it from said he just gave it a tune-up, so I was wondering what it could be.

injections? Value" fuel pump" any ideas

Engine running rough or misfiring can be cause by the following:

1. Defective spark plug
2. Inadequate spark/coil, defective spark plug wire.
3. Lack of compression
4. False air leakage.
5. Faulty fuel injectors.
6. Insufficient fuel pressure.
7. Contaminated fuel.
8. EGR valve that is leaking.
9. Oxygen sensors.
10. Throttle position sensor.
11. Idle air control valve.
12. Engine compression problem
