1992 Pontiac Grand Am brand new starter wont turn motor ove

replaced starter and there is an audible clicking and ther alternator moves slightly but engine does not turn over

Check other components such as a/c compressor, water pump etc to make sure they will rotate. You should take off the serpintine belt to do this. Also check your connections at the battery and the starter for tightness and make sure the connections are clean.
