Engine Performance problem
1998 Plymouth Breeze 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my car recently started running rough, it used to stall if I hit the gas in reverse, but now it stalls at most stops. The check engine lite finally came on today. It almost sounds like the throttlebody is wide open from the breather. Anything you might know that is common on that car? I need it today, im a mechanic also, but I dont own a scanner? Is there a way to get a flash code, or to haveit display on the dash like the newer chryslers do?

With the key in off possition, press and hold the trip reset button until sof and a number appears in the odometer window then release the button. If a fault code is present, the cluster will display it in the odometer display. Write all numbers that appear. When all codes have been displayed, the cluster will display "end"
