I just found out my radiator cap is worn out, replaced it with another though slightly different from 1.1 to 0.9. Should I be worried or all is well?

Good morning.

What readings are you giving us?

A bad cap will lower the boiling point of the coolant and will cause overheating.

You check the cap by doing a pressure test off the car.

Can you describe the exact issue with the car?

This is the third time my car out of the blue displays the temperature light. I pulled aside wait for the engine to cool then add water and continue with the journey. Luckily enough it doesn't show again. As I open the hood I can hear water boiling in the coolant reservoir. Visited few mechanic who all agreed on one thing; the radiator cap should be changed. I changed the cap tho the previous one was 1.1 I went for a 0.9. Had my first drive after the change and so far all is well. I am just concerned is it okay or the cap has to be exactly the same. Should I worry?

You should be good. I am more concerned where the fluid is leaking causing it to run hot?

I would have the system pressure tested to be sure.
