The car has a full battery, all the lights come on. I turn the key to start, I get one click and nothing, no start. I've just put a brand-new starter in the car, it had done this before the new starter. If it's a matter of relays is there one I could "swap out" for a day. The parts store is closed tomorrow, and this car is all I've got, no one to help me either.

Hi,

When you hear the click, is it coming from the starter motor? If it is, the relay is working. Was the engine running properly prior to this happening? Are you able to turn the engine manually using a socket/ratchet on the crankshaft bolt?

Also, are the battery terminals both clean and tight?

Let me know.

Joe

I had made a 32-mile trip the night before this. I do not recall it running any differently than before.
I haven't tried turning the crankshaft. Does it matter which direction I turn it? Or just that it will or will not turn?
I intend on getting into it again tomorrow to check all the connections, to make sure that they are all clean and tight. I thought, but I could be wrong.
I believe the click is coming from the starter.

Hi,

You can turn it in either direction. Just make sure it moves. If it does, chances are the starter has failed or you have a loose connection.

Let me know what you find so I can further direct you.

I turned the crankshaft clockwise. I moved fairly easily, I was able to turn it with my ratchet, no breaker bar.
I went back through and made sure all the connections were tight and the connectors were clean, I sanded them to make sure.
I followed the negative battery cable up to the top of the right fender where it was grounded, there were three connections there, so I cleaned them.
I found a fuse under the hood in the bunch on the firewall, passenger side. There was one for the starter, so I pulled it out and sanded it clean with fine sandpaper. It was not burned out, broken.
I got it all back together, got in the car, it fired right up.
Driven it 114 miles this day and made a few stops. It started back up without hesitation and the starting felt strong, not overly so but stronger than it has since I bought the car 2 1/2 to 3 years ago.
Everything has worked out fine.
Also, in another question I had separated the inner CV joint in the drive axle, it went back together with no problem and the car has driven well, once again, the 114 miles I'd driven it this day.
I like me a Le Sabre!
Thanks to you all for your help and guidance, it is very much appreciated! :-)
