How do you replace the fuel pump? Engine cranks strong. It does not try to start. Portable diagnostic tester indicates that the fuel pump has pressure. The fuel does not get past the filter to bleeder valve on top of engine.

It tried to start with the starter fluid in throttle body. Yes - you can hear the fuel pump until the pressure is built up in the line. No fuel gets to the forward bleeder valve on top of the engine! I lean toward replacing the fuel filter which has about 40,000 plus miles on it. Is it common for the fuel filter to clog up completely?

For the heck of it, spray some starting fluid, carb cleaner or similiar into the throttle body and make sure it starts like that before changeing anything.

How old is the fuel filter?

Setting aside the diagnostic tool, Can you hear the pump run?
