Got off the freeway one night from a 45 mile trip and noticed my car ideling really rough all the sudden. Misfiring. The check engine light came on along the way as well. Turns out it was a bad fuel injector. #5 Fuel injector was reading bad according to my machanic.

We replaced it and the problem was fixed for about 6 weeks. Now it is doing it again slightly different sound likely a different cyclinder doign the same thing. Is this common for them to go like that one after another?

I aslo noticed about two months agao when the weather turned a clittle colder here in southern california that in the morning when I'd start it up I got a strong fuel odor comming to the cab. It goes away once car is warm and on the raod. My father mentnioned something about a possible fuel rail recall something like that. He suggested I take it into the dealership explain the strong fuel odor and see if indeed there was a recall wether or not they will correct the problem.

Could these two problems be related perhaps a leaking fuel rail is causing all the problems? Or are these a seperate issues to be diagnosed individually?

Appreciate any leads or insight thanks in advance.

If its the fuel rail it'll be very obvious-could be an injector leaking/fuel pressure regulator and also excessive fuel pressure-a coolant temperature sensor stuck in the open loop mode and computer just dumping fuel at it. Its a seperate issue-

Get the fuel presure checked out for a start
