Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 0

Just had the engine in my 97 eclipse 240A non-turbo, rebuilt. Drove the car into the shop. Shop is a eclipse specialty shop, but does not do a lot of 240A engines.

Put the engine back in. It has fuel to the rail, and we are recording signal from the cam and crank sensors, but are not getting any spark.

Timing has been triple checked. We have checked to see that all fuses, relays and connections are tight and not blown.

No error codes detected.

From my on-line research this appears to be a fairly common issue with the eclipse, but I can't find any answers that have worked.

It might be helpful to know which Eclipse model it is? Gs? GSX? Etc. But non turbo 2.0? Codes can be read with the MIL(malfunction indiator lamp) as follws, and since Mitsubishi recommends using the MUT II(Multi use scan tester) only, this may retrieve codes the generic scan tool can't.
Using MIL 1. Before entering on-board diagnostics, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. Turn ignition on, off, on, off and on within 5 seconds. Record 2-digit DTCs as displayed by flashing MIL. Go to next step. 2. A constant repetition of short flashes indicates system is normal. If system is abnormal, signals will appear on MIL as long and short flashes. Long flashes represent tens; short flashes represent ones. For example, 4 long flashes and 3 short flashes indicate DTC 43. After recording DTCs, proceed to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS).

OK it should be a 420 A 2.0 eclipse RS? No RD, since these letters are next to each other I assume RS is your model. So this procedure will work.
