2004 E-320 A/C sounds like a jet getting ready to take off

My 2004 E320 makes a loud sound like a plane getting ready to take off when the A/C is turned on higher settings. From the inside you can't hear the sound, it is only on the outside that you can hear it.

It sounds like it may be the engine fan kicking into high gear or something?

Any advice?

It's definately your fan kicking on. If you live in a very warm climate this could be a normal condition. MB fans can operate at very high speeds and are very efficient because of this.
