Replaced my main fuel relay, ignition switch, cap, rotors, and wires. Still the vehicle will lose power while driving. Idle is fine no issues. When the car loses power, I'll either tap the gas a few times which creates a backfire and gets the car going or I'll shift the transmission into neutral and restart the ignition to get the car running. These methods work. However, the loss of power is happening more frequently now at low speed or RPM. The fuel assembly is the original one in the vehicle, so my money is on that. However, no engine or service lights when this issue occurs.

Hi,

Does this ever happen when you are climbing a steep hill or when the engine is under a load? If it does, that is most likely related to a weak pump or even an engine vacuum leak.

The easiest thing to do is check for an engine vacuum leak. This will cause a lean fuel mixture and can cause backfiring. Here is a link that shows how to check for one:

If you find no leaks, then you should check fuel pressure. I don't know if the fuel filter has been replaced or not, but if it is original, that's a possible concern.

Here is a link that shows in general how to check fuel pressure:

I attached the directions specific to your vehicle below. The manufacturer's fuel pressure specifications are highlighted.

Let me know what you find or if there is something I can do to help.

Take care,

Joe
