So, engine was rebuilt less than 50,000 miles ago but the guy I bout the jeep from was too cheap to spend an extra 200 bucks to fix the gas tank, instead he re routed the tubes to a gas can and sat it in the front seat. Now that I have bought a new gas tank and connected the wires correctly (or so I think) my engine will not start. It worked perfectly with the gas can but with the gas tank it wont. When I attempt to start it the battery will not live long enough to get it to start, we thought of buying a new battery but have not done so yet. I have checked the cables and pushed air through them to make sure they are not clogged, and they seem to be getting sufficient amounts of air. Is there any fueling diagrams for my jeep that you can send me or think of.

Definitly SEE MY PROFILE, First need to know how mechanical you are. With autos anyway. I can help you w/ most any CJ problem. And will. Can show you many modifications you can do. Private Message your E-mail address to me. Will send you many of my pics of mods. I feel you will be in awe!

1st lets insure MR. JEEP. Will try to crank. EZest 1st. Shoot a little fuel in CARB. Does it TRY to fire. If not check for a good spark at plugs. No spark. Come back. We will thourghly go thru the steps to get it right!

OK, I do not understand the PM thing. I guess you can PM me---But NO-GO for me to PM you.

What I tried to PM you was, I was thinking that maybe you made a stupid mistake and CROSSED the lines at your tank.

2 lines enter the top of your tank:2 little ones on driver side, they go into a liquid check, and a rollover check valve, from there one VENT line travels to the engine compartment and is vented in a canister. Other unpreferred things can be done to this vent.
I believe the fill hose assembly is self explanitory.

The RETURN comes from the smallest outlet on your FUEL filter goes to tank to be recycled + relieve pressure from needle and seat in carb (fuel filter MUST have 3 hose connections) 1 IN--2 OUT (on one side SMALL to fuel tank--LARGE to CARB)

The other line comes from tank and to the FUEL PUMP.

At the tank you might test for inlet and outlet w/ a piece of hose. If you suck on the return you will get nothing but gas fumes (it does not submerge in gas)

If you suck on the outlet, fuel will come up hose (this line IS SUBMERGED in gas)--run to fuel pump

Have the neighborhood Dennis the Menace suck on each line, When he goes into a spasm---thats the line that goes to the fuel pump.

PICS make it?
